The Australian Disability Enterprise Excellence Award 2011 Winner was awarded and presented at the National Disability Services Employment Forum on 5th September at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney to Corio Bay Innovators Inc.
This Award recognises and promotes the significant contribution that Disability Enterprises make in improving the lives of people with a disability. It is also recognition of the dual focus of Disability Enterprises as a viable competitive business providing high quality employment and training.
Corio Bay Innovators Inc. t/a dal Gourmet Café & Catering was established in 1991 to provide employment and training in the Hospitality Industry to young adults with special needs exiting school. Known throughout the region for fresh delicious gourmet food, friendly service and great atmosphere dal ‘s busy catering service and two popular cafes attract a diversity of customers from the latte-sipping set of Geelong, the business community to the cheerfully retired.
dal was acknowledged and applauded for its best practice and innovative training opportunities, safe working conditions, social inclusion and participation, high quality and sustainable employment and premium employment conditions.
Corio Bay Innovators provides support, information and mentoring for other organisations that are looking at “Best Practice Models” when preparing adults with disabilities for open employment with the provision of a Model Document that acts as a training manual.
